Penang best mee sotong
Mamak food is something I seldom try, whatmore if it's fried with too much carbs in the ingredients. As much as I'd like to eat and try all the nice food found every corner, normally I'll refuse and settle for something light, leaving only the heavy food intake for "Special" occassions. This is why it's best to be a guy when it comes to eating.
Anyway, today I discovered yet another treasure hidden in the heart of good old Penang town. In fact it's so hidden I'll never even think of going there for lunch if it's not for my friend's recommendation. He said it's so good I'll never regret eating it.
Frankly I was comtemplating of whether to try it out or not because of.. well the obvious; more calories only means longer workout to burn it all. In the end, I succumbed to my growling tummy which had already demanded for food since 11.
The place is nothing to brag about really.. but at least it's shedded and quite cooling I might say. The indian guy was already frying non stop right from the moment we placed our order. Obviously, it's the busiest stall.
This is the signbboard.
And the stall itself. Look at how much noodle there is. Gotta be feeding a lot of hungry folks like me out there.
It didn't take too long for our food to come. It even looked good from the looks of it. Basically I think he only has to fry the noodle mee goreng style. Then he added the readymade sotong (squid) paste on top of the noodle. Ours were mee sotong tambah pedas! (extra hot!)
It looked good, didn't it? (picture lacking quality because I used camera phone ma)
My first bite and it almost sent me flying high into the sky. LOL a bit exaggerating there but seriously, this is like GOOD, BEST, SUPERB. I don't normally eat sotong (squid) but THIS I eat.
Stopped halfway and took another picture because it's too spicy to the extent that my nose was running, my face was sweating and I ordered my second drink. Despite that, I had no regrets whatsoever.
Definitely worth trying, though words around are that you might have to run toilet after the meal
I'd rate this 8.5/10
Where to get it: The old almost rundown looking foodcourt (selling Malay food) next to Fort Cornwallis, Esplanade
Try it and tell me your verdict! ;)

8 people bitched:
